I started this blog in 2010 for a couple of reasons, first and foremost was to have a record of the quilts that I am working on and have finished, but also to have a place where I can talk about other parts of my life, mainly my dogs. 🙂
When I started this blog, we had just gotten Pixel, a rescued pit bull mix puppy (she was about 5 months old when we got her), from our local Humane Society. Since then I have become a breed advocate, and a more avid quilter.
We moved in 2012 to our house, and about a year later, after we had all settled in, we got our second dog, Taco. He is an older fella, we have heard in the range from 6-12 according to different vets. He was abandoned, tied to a fence at a local police station. We got him after he had been at a nearby shelter for a few months, and he is a DOLL. I love him SO MUCH. He is a such a good dog, a snuggler, and so calm, great with kids.
Pixel has a LOT of puppy in her still. She’s now 6, but she loves to run and jump and play and chew, especially on shoes and pillows. Her favorite game is “Keep away from mommy.” But she is such a gentle soul. She knows when anyone is upset and does whatever she can to comfort them. She is afraid of loud noises, and she loves to sleep on the couch.
They both have pretty severe food allergies, but are both pretty well under control with prescription dog food (yes, it exists), and they love carrots! We go through 4 lbs of baby carrots a week between the two dogs and my hubby (I won’t touch the vile things!)!
I sell a few quilts on my Etsy Shop, I try to follow the MQG, even though I am not currently a member (so expensive!), I have done some doll quilt swaps online and was a member of a local quilt guild in the past. For the past year, I have been focusing on getting better as a long-arm quilter by renting time at a local shop. I have been sewing since I was young, when my mom taught me to craft, I did crafting, home dec, and some garment sewing, but got serious when I started quilting. I was mostly self directed to begin with, but have taken a few classes here and there in the last few years. I have been quilting on and off for almost 16 years, seriously for about the last 6 years.
I hope you enjoy my blog! -Lee 2/17
